Sydney Homeier was a NICU RN at the UW NICU for several years before becoming a Postpartum Doula last year. She has a bachelors degree in both Psychology and Nursing and did advanced practice education at UW working towards a Masters Degree as a Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist. She recently became a Certified Lactation Educator and is preparing for the IBCLC exam this October. She is excited to talk to her fellow doulas about the unique challenges the families with preemies encounter and how doulas can help them thrive!

NAPS Continuing Education is excited to present a class on supporting a family with a preemie.

Topics that will be covered are:

    • Life in the NICU vs Life at HOME and how you can help ease the transition
    • Supporting the emotional health of the family
    • Classifications of Preemies and things to consider regarding their care
    • Feeding and Nutrition requirements of Preemies
    • Helpful Resources
